HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-20-26 - IN CAMERAThe City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Resolution January 20I 2026 Moved by: Councillor Lori Lococo Seconded by: Councillor Victor Pietrangelo WHEREAS all meetings of Council are to be open to the public; and WHEREAS the only time a meeting or part of a meeting may be closed to the public is if the subject matter falls under one of the exceptions under section 239 of the Municipal Act. WHEREAS on January 20, 2026, Niagara Falls City Council will be holding Closed Meetings as permitted under s. 239 (2) of the Municipal Act, namely; (a) the security and property of the municipality or local board; (e) litigation or potential litigation, including matters before administrative tribunals; (i) a trade secret or scientific, technical, commercial, financial or labour relations information, supplied in confidence to the municipality or local board, which, if disclosed, could reasonably be expected to prejudice significantly the competitive position or interfere significantly with the contractual or other negotiations of a person, group of persons, or organization; (k) a position, plan, procedure, criteria or instruction to be applied to any negotiations carried on or to be carried on by or on behalf of the municipality or local board. AND WHEREAS Section 239 (3.1) a meeting of council may be closed to the public if the following conditions are both satisfied; 1. The meeting is held for the purpose of educating or training the members. 2. At the meeting, no member discusses or otherwise deals with any matter in a way that materially advances the business or decision -making of the council. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that on January 20, 2026 Niagara Falls City Council will go into a closed meeting to consider matters that fall under s. 239 (2) (a), (e) and (k) regarding the Municipal Accommodation Tax; (i) and (k) a matter dealing with financial arrangements involving the Niagara Airport and s. 239 (3.1) pertaining to the affordable housing Community Improvement Program.
