2010/05/31 (2)The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Resolution No. 15 Moved by Councillor Pietrangelo Seconded by Councillor Thomson May 31, 2010 WHEREAS the TODS (Tourism- Oriented Directional Signing) Program, offered through the Provincial Ministries of Tourism and Transportation, permits qualifying tourism operators or districts to place their business signs along Provincial roadways; and WHEREAS the TODS program provides wayfinding and directional information to travelers throughout the Province of Ontario; and WHEREAS the Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) is desirous to have TODS signage identifying Downtown as a tourist district; and WHEREAS the Downtown is a commercial district that has been marketed as a place to visit, shop and see entertainment; and WHEREAS other tourist districts in the City such as Fallsview, Lundy's Lane and Clifton Hill tourist districts, already have TODS signage; and WHEREAS the BIA is responsible for the cost of the TODS signage; and WHEREAS it is necessary for City Council to pass a resolution declaring an area as a tourist district for an application for TODS signage to be complete. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council declares the Downtown as a tourist district worthy of Tourism - Oriented Directional (TODS) signage.
