2010/12/13 (2) CITY OF III �� I � k � P 111111 % CANADA N14GA FAILS - -- The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Resolution December 13, 2010 No. 27 Moved by Councillor Ioannoni Seconded by Councillor Morocco WHEREAS Bill 22 proposes an amendment to the Children 's Law Reform Act to emphasize the importance of children's relationships with their parents and grandparents. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Niagara Falls City Council on behalf of the residents of Niagara Falls and their grandparents support the amending of the Children's Law Reform Act to emphasize the importance of children's relationships with their parents and grandparents as outlined in Bill 22, introduced by Niagara Falls M.P.P. Kim Craitor, in such a manner as To require parents and others with custody of children to refrain from unreasonably placing obstacles to personal relations between the children and their grandparents; and To include a specific reference to the importance of maintaining emotional ties between children and grandparents and the willingness of each person applying for custody to facilitate as much contact with each parent and grandparent as is consistent with the best interests of the child; and To require the court to give effect to the principle that a child should have as much contact with each parent and grandparent as is consistent with the best interests of the child; and FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to all Ontario municipalities through the Ontario Association of Municipalities for their consideration and endorsement.
