WHEREAS The Downtown Board of Management (BIA), representing the businesses on Queen
Street, have a number of events planned for the summer: and
WHEREAS one of the events is "Music in the Park" (the"event') to be held at Centennial Square in
front of City I Tall; and
WHEREAS the event would run Fridays from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. throughout the summer; and
WHEREAS the event is comparable to a similar event the BIA did last summer on Thursday evenings,
with no issues; and
WHEREAS this year the Downtown and BIA will be hosting the City's Canada Day festivities; and
WHEREAS the BIA would like to provide beer and wine to the public for these events; and
WHEREAS to obtain a Special Occasion Liquor Licence from the Alcohol & Gaming Commission
of Ontario (AGCO), the events require a resolution of Council recognizing them as a public events of
municipal significance; and
WHEREAS the "Music in the Park" is significant as it provides exposure to the City's Downtown
core; and
WHEREAS Canada Day is a well-established annual event in our community.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council consent to Centennial Square being the venue for
the proposed concert series; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Council consent to relief to the City's Noise By-law to allow
music to be played until 11 :00 p.m.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council considers the "Music in the Park"
and--Canada Day"of municipal significance and supports the provisions of a Special Occasion Liquor
Licence (SOP) for the events.
