WHEREAS Springlicious ("the event') is an annual food, wine and beer expo that promotes
the City's downtown businesses; and
WHEREAS the event is scheduled for May 29th to May 31st, 2015; and
WHEREAS the event is being organized by Celebrate Old Downtown Community Corporation
("COD"), a not-for-profit organization; and
WHEREAS COD will be requesting a road closure for Queen Street; and
WHEREAS to obtain a Special Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) from the Alcohol & Gaming
Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the event requires a resolution of Council recognizing it as
a public event of municipal significance; and
WHEREAS COD would like to again apply for an SOP that would permit patrons to the event
to travel along the closed road with alcohol; and
WHEREAS the event is significant as it annually provides exposure to the City's Downtown
core.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council consents to Celebrate Old Downtown's desire
to allow for alcohol to be carried on the closed street for this year's Springlicious; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council considers the eighth annual
Springlicious as an event of municipal significance and supports the provision of a Special
Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) for the event; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council grant relief to the City's Noise
By-law to permit amplified music outdoors until midnight for May 29th and May 30th.
