WHEREAS Under the federal-provincial Safe Restart Agreement, the Ontario
government is providing up to $4 billion in emergency assistance so that municipalities
are supported as they respond to COVID-19. The ministry is currently in process of
municipality's allocations under Phase 1 of the Municipal Operating Funding Stream.
WHEREAS Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing wrote to municipalities
on October 1, 2020 providing information on applying for additional funding under Phase
2 of the Municipal Operating Funding stream.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Niagara Falls supports
requesting additional financial assistance under Phase 2 of the Municipal Operating
Funding stream to address extraordinary operating expenditures and revenue losses
arising from COVID-19 in 2020.
AND FURTHER that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Minister of Municipal Affairs
and Housing, Steve Clark in addition to a reporting template completed by our Municipal
Treasurer as per the deadline of November 6, 2020.
AND The Seal of the Corporation be hereto affixed. Carried Unanimously
