WHEREAS all meetings of Council are to be open to the public; and
WHEREAS the only time a meeting or part of a meeting may be closed to the public is if
the subject matter falls under one of the exceptions under s. 239(2) of the Municipal Act.
WHEREAS on June 21, 2022, Niagara Falls City Council will be holding a Closed Meeting
as permitted under s. 239 (2)(c), of the Municipal Act, namely;
(2) A meeting or part of a meeting may be closed to the public if the subject
matter being considered is;
(a) the security of the property of the municipality or local board;
(c) a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the
municipality or local board;
(k) a position, plan, procedure, criteria or instruction to be applied to any
negotiations carried on or to be carried on by or on behalf of the municipality.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that on June 21, 2022 Niagara Falls City Council will
go into a closed meeting to consider matters that fall under section 239 (2) (k) a position,
plan, procedure, criteria or instruction to be applied to any negotiations carried on or to
be carried on by or on behalf of the municipality as well as section 239 (2) (c) to discuss
a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality in relation to
Cemetery Services. Council will also consider matters that full under section 239 (2) (a)
the security of the property of the municipality regarding the City's insurance coverage.
