WHEREAS all meetings of Council are to be open to the public; and
WHEREAS the only time a meeting or part of a meeting may be closed to the public is if
the subject matter falls under one of the exceptions under s. 239(2) of the Municipal Act.
WHEREAS on April 18, 2023, Niagara Falls City Council will be holding Closed Meetings
as permitted under s. 239 (2) of the Municipal Act, namely;
(c) a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality
(i) financial or labour relations information, supplied in confidence to the
municipality, which if disclosed, could reasonably be expected to prejudice
significantly the competitive position or interfere significantly with the contractual
or other negotiations of the organization.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that on April 18, 2023 Niagara Falls City Council will go
into a closed meeting to consider matters that fall under section 239 (2) (c) to discuss a
proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land for any potential surplus City owned
properties;
As well as matters that fall under section 239 (2) (i) to discuss financial or labour relations
information, supplied in confidence to the municipality, which if disclosed, could
reasonably be expected to prejudice significantly the completive position or interfere
significantly with the contractual or other negotiations of the organization as it pertains to
a collective bargaining update.
AND The Seal of the Corporation be hereto affixed. Carried Unanimously
