WHEREAS all meetings of Council are to be open to the public; and
WHEREAS the only time a meeting or part of a meeting may be closed to the public is if
the subject matter falls under one of the exceptions under s. 239(2) of the Municipal Act.
WHEREAS on September 12, 2023, Niagara Falls City Council will be holding Closed
Meetings as permitted under s. 239 (2) of the Municipal Act, as well as under s. 239 (3.1)
namely;
(a) the security of the property of the municipality
(c) a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality
(f) advice that is subject to solicitor -client privilege
(3.1) 1. The meeting is held for the purpose of educating or training the members
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that on September 12, 2023 Niagara Falls City Council
will go into a closed meeting to consider matters that fall under 239 (2) (a) to discuss the
security of the property of the municipality regarding WEGO buses; (c) a proposed or
pending acquisition of affordable housing units; (f) advice that is subject to solicitor -client
privilege with respect to a potential compensation process. Lastly, Council will be
receiving information for educational purposes as it pertains to the new Strong Mayors
Legislation.
