This year as part of our Annual Meeting and Educational Seminars we are offering a seminar for politicians. This seminar is a two day course: Firefighting 101. It will provide you with first hand information and knowledge about the fire service and will provide you with an experience that you will never forget. On Sunday May 6 the OAFC has partnered with the City of Toronto Fire Services to offer you a special program tailored specifically for politicians. You will slip into bunker gear and experience first hand the life of a firefighter by participating in a number of live fire training exercises. The symposium is entitled Drinking Water: The How, Why and Who of Source Protection and will bring together Source Water Protection practitioners, policy makers, researchers and potential members of local source water protection committees to discuss the challenges of implementing plans for source water protection. Plenary presentations will describe various models for implementing source water protection in Canada, and the scientific basis for Best Management Practices for protecting our sources of drinking water will be held on the first day. The second day will be aimed at facilitating discussion of issues in source water protection implementation. The role of municipalities, Conservation Authorities and the Ministry of the Environment related to the implementation of Source Protection Plans will be discussed.
