Additions 2008/07/07 ADDITIONS TO COUNCIL, MONDAY, JULY 7. 2008 In Camera 1. L-2008-20 -City Purchase from Hodan Investments Corporation -Supplementary Report Community Services 1 PD-2008-65 - Request by the Downtown BIA to allow Eor Activities along Queen Street a) Email from Bob Bolibruck, re. sandwich board signs By-laws 1 Email from Josh Kaufman of Smart!Centres, re. By-laws on the shopping centre development on Oakwood Drive SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT L-2008-20 In the interval between the preparation of Report L-2008-20 and today's date, Shell Canada Limited finally contacted the City and requested certain changes to the Encroachment Agreement. The material changes provide that the encroachment of the tanks can continue so long as the tanks are replaced immediately and specify that, in the event of any requirement for Shell to perform any sort of environmental clean up, the clean up would be to commercial standards. Staff recommends these terms. The encroachment by the tanks is quite small and clean up to the commercial standard would seem to be a reasonable term for cleaning up a municipal road bed that is likely already contaminated with salt. [(7/4/2008) Dean lorfida -Sandwich Board Signs ~ _ Page From: Bob Bolibruck '1<'0: Ed Dujlovic ®ate: 7/4/2008 2:33 PM Subject: Sandwich Board Signs CC: Alex Herlovitch; Dean Iorfida; John MacDonald Ed In a meeting with Mordecai, we reviewed the proposed sizes of the sandwich board signs from the guidelines contained in Appendix 2 of the staff report. The maximum width of 0.6 metres and maximum height of 1 metre is too small. You may recall that Downtown had asked previously for a maximum width of 0.75 metres and a maximum height of 1.5 metres for these signs. The sign guidelines should be changed to reflect the larger sizes. I believe they may request this change on Monday. Mordecai also requested a change to allow slightly larger sandwich boards when they are placed in an area that does not impede pedestrian traffic, such as beside a tree or lamp post. The larger sandwich board signs as noted above should suffice.
