2008/11/10SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING Council met on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. for the purpose of a Special meeting to discuss the Niagara Health System, Hospital Improvement Plan, the recent Dr. Kitts report and future directions of City Council endorsed committee reviewing the Hospital Improvement Plan. All members of Council were present. Councillor Pietrangelo offered the Opening Prayer. ORDERED by Councillor loannoni, seconded by Councillor Wing that Niagara Falls City Council inform the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) that it is opposed to the recommendations pertaining to Niagara Falls contained in the Niagara Health System Hospital Improvement Plan and Dr. Jack Kitts' subsequent report reviewing the aforementioned plan; and That it formally requests that representation from the City's Ad Hoc Committee reviewing the HIP be allowed to make a deputation at the LHIN's next Board Meeting (November 25, 2008). Councillor Diodati Councillor loannoni Councillor Mayes Councillor Thomson Mayor Salci AYE AYE AYE AYE AYE TWENTIETH MEETING NHS /HIP ORDERED by Councillor loannoni, seconded by Councillor Wing that the Honourable Jim Bradley, Minister of Transportation, as a supporter the new Regional hospital in west St. Catharines, be asked if the Ministry of Transportation will be committed to funding the transportation enabler required; and That Minister Bradley be requested to meet with His Worship Ted Salci, Mayor of Niagara Falls, Mr. Kim Craitor, M.P.P., Niagara Falls and representatives City Council endorsed ad- hoc committee reviewing the HIP. Carried Unanimously BY - LAWS ORDERED on the motion of Councillor Pietrangelo, seconded by Councillor Diodati that the by -law be given a first reading. Carried Unanimously 2008 -194 A by -law to adopt, ratify and confirm the actions of City Council at its special meeting on the 10 day of November, 2008. ORDERED on the motion of Councillor Pietrangelo, seconded by Councillor Diodati that the by -laws be read a second and third time and passed.
