Engineering has recommended to the city that no traffic of any kind be allowed on the bridge, and the city is reacting to this recommendation However I wish to high light several poims in this report."Safety factor with the load capacity of the bridge no longer meets standards" WE ARE NOT CONCERNED AT THIS TIME THAT THE STRUCTURE WILL COLLAPSE SINCE IT WAS HANDLING HEAVY TRAFFIC A SHORT TIME AGO I use this bridge to bike into Stamford and my wife and Iwalk over it regularity as do my neighbors and the general public ,including the Bruce trail to access there new ~ 455.000.00 pedestrian bridge over the Q.E. I weigh 175 Lbs. The bridge capacity is 13000 Lbs.f use 1.35% of the bridge capacity. I don't think the C N recommendation comes close to taking a reasonable ,common sense approach to this issue. Lets look at the favourite "close it because of "LIABILTTY" I respectfuly suggest that C N and the city look at records back to 1922 to see how many actions have been filed against this bridge? I believe foot and bike use is much safer to day because we don't have to deal with car & truck traffic. I urge council to allow a three foot opening in the barriers to allow foot & bike access.
