WHEREAS the Provincial government, throughthe Ministry ofTransportation, allows the designation of400
series highways; and
WHEREAS on March 23, 2009, Niagara Falls City Council passed a motion soliciting suggestions from the
public for names for Highway 420, which runs from the Queen Elizabeth Way (Q.E.W.)to Stanley Avenue;
and
WHEREAS through a public process, which included a poll on the City's website, the preferred name to
designate Highway 420 is Niagara Memorial Veterans' Highway; and
WHEREAS the municipality requires approval from the upper-tier municipality and the local member of
Provincial Parliament (M.P.P.).
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED Niagara Falls City Council chooses Highway 420 to be designated as
Niagara Memorial Veterans' Highway; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the municipality agrees to pay for the related signage costs; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution be forwarded to the Regional Municipality of Niagara
and Kim Craitor, M.P.P. for support; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that contingent upon the support of the Regional Municipality of Niagara
and Kim Craitor, M.P.P., the resolution be forwarded to the Ministry of Transportation for consideration.
