WHEREAS the Grand Opening of the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, the first week
of April, is a widely anticipated event of great significance to the municipality; and
WHEREAS the 288,000 square foot facility will be an additional component in making our community
a world -class tourist destination; and
WHEREAS the operators have applied for their liquor licence, however, they may require a Special
Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) for the grand opening festivities; and
WHEREAS to obtain the SOP, from the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the
event requires a resolution of Council recognizing it as a significant event.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Grand Opening of the Scotiabank Convention Centre is
a significant event deserving of City Council support.
