WHEREAS the Niagara Institute of Music & Arts is planning the second annual Niagara Music &
Arts Expo (the "Expo "); and
WHEREAS last year the Expo attracted patrons to six consecutive weekends of musical
performances and arts displays during February and March, a slow time for events and visitors in our
community; and
WHEREAS this year's Expo will take place in the theatre of the Niagara Centre of the Arts (the
former NFCVI), a well known venue in our community; and
WHEREAS to obtain a Special Occasion Liquor Licence, for six consecutive weekends (February
2 to March 10), from the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the event requires
a resolution of Council recognizing it as a public event of municipal significance; and
WHEREAS the event organizer obtained a similar SOP last year, without incident.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council considers the second annual
the Niagara Music & Arts Expo in February and March, 2012 as an event of municipal significance
and supports the provision of a Special Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) for the event.
