2012/06/26 (3)The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Resolution June 26, 2012 No. 18 Moved by Councillor Thomson Seconded by Councillor Morocco WHEREAS The Downtown Board of Management (BIA), representing the businesses on Queen Street, have a number of events planned for the summer; and WHEREAS one of the events would be to have live jazz and blues (the "event ") at Centennial Square in front of City Hall; and WHEREAS the event would run Thursdays from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. for eight (8) weeks beginning the second week of July (July 12); and WHEREAS the BIA would like to provide beer and wine to the public for the event; and WHEREAS to obtain a Special Occasion Liquor Licence from the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the event requires a resolution of Council recognizing it as a public event of municipal significance; and WHEREAS the event is significant as it provides exposure to the City's Downtown core. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council consent to Centennial Square being the venue for the proposed concert series; and FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council considers the event of municipal significance and supports the provision of a Special Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) for the event.
