• Provides the framework for the protection of the City's
Natural Heritage Resources (Part 3, Section 3)
• Promotes the adoption of policies that support the
management, preservation and maintenance of the natural
environment and urban forest assets
Park -in- the -City Committee
The Committee's mandate is to encourage environmental
responsibility, city wide beautification, promote recreation trail
and bikeway usage and civic pride through community action.

o 1st Priority: Local youth community based non - profit
sport organizations with the majority of their
registrants (75% for age groups 12 years and
younger).
o 2nd Priority: Local adult community based non - profit
sport organizations
o 3rd Priority: Local commercial (profit) organizations
o 4th Priority: Non - resident youth community based
non - profit sport organizations
o 5th Priority: Non - resident adult and
commercial(profit) and all other requests

days a week, 8:00 am to 11:00 pm

• 10 calendar days in advance
• If under 10 days, $20.00 cancellation fee

o Opening fields outside of standard hours of
operation: applicant is responsible to pay staff
costs
o If a field is officially closed; sub - leased without
permission; or played on without a permit the
group could forfeit the right to play on a
Niagara Falls field for the remainder of the
season.
o Repair costs charged back to the group or
association.

Subject: Portage Road - Park in the City Committee meeting
Hello John
Thank you once again for attending the Park in the City Committee to speak on the draft report regarding the Portage
Road Tree Trimming. As you are aware, the Committee motioned the following:
IT WAS MOTIONED BY Frank Fohr, second by Pat Mascarin that the Park in the City Committee is in support of Staff to
tree trim along Portage Road in the areas as stated in the report. The Committee supports tree trimming and removal of
all tree species 10 feet inside the described area as well as supports tree trimming and removal of invasive species
extending beyond the first 10 feet, up to the desired area that Staff recommend to conduct work. All in Favour.
On another note, the Committee was advised that the new proposed tree policies were discussed at a prior meeting
with no objections.
