WHEREAS The Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre is a charitable not-for-profit
organization incorporated as the Folk Arts Council of St. Catharines in 1970, having the
mandate to support and assist the ethno-cultural and newcomer community in Niagara
through a broad range of programs and services; and
WHEREAS the Niagara Folk Arts Festival (the "Festival") is a well-establish event in the
Niagara Region, in which the local multicultural communities host events highlighting their
cultures, traditions, art, music and food; and
WHEREAS some events associated with the Festival will be held in Niagara Falls during the
month of May; and
WHEREAS to obtain a Special Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) from the Alcohol & Gaming
Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the Festival requires a resolution of Council recognizing it
as a public event of municipal significance.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council considers the Niagara
Folkarts Festival to be an event of municipal significance and supports the provision of a
Special Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) for the event.
