WHEREAS the Government of Canada, recently announced the Canada 150 Community
Infrastructure Program (the "Program") to fund investments in community infrastructure that
celebrate our shared heritage, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Canadians; and
WHEREAS $44.4 million has been allocated to the Program for Southern Ontario through
FedDev Ontario; and
WHEREAS the retrofit of lighting for the Niagara Falls Illumination is a municipal project that
meets the criteria of the Program in that it upgrades the existing infrastructure of a valuable
community tourism and cultural asset.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Niagara Falls authorizes the
application, in conjunction with the Niagara Parks Commission, the City's partner on the
Illumination Board, for Canada 150 Community Infrastructure funding for the Niagara Falls
Illumination.
