11/24/2015 (2) r p I y Iri CI4 OF � V�I�Ij�.CANADA N1464RA FALL The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Resolution November 24, 2015 No. 39 Moved by Councillor Thomson Seconded by Councillor Pietrangelo WHEREAS the inaugural Niagara lcewine Festival (the "Event") was held in January at the Scotiabank Convention Centre (S.C.C.); and WHEREAS the Event is scheduled for January 29 -31, 2016; and WHEREAS the event will feature 20 wine stations, 12 culinary stations and live entertainment; and WHEREAS the municipality is the owner of the S.C.C.; and WHEREAS it is in the municipality's best interest that the S.C.C. be regularly occupied with events for the enjoyment of visitors and residents alike; and WHEREAS due to fact that the event organizer is neither a charity or not-for-profit organization, to obtain a Special Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) from the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the event requires a resolution of Council recognizing it as an event of municipal significance; and WHEREAS the event is significant in that it will bring in attendees from throughout the Niagara Region, Southern Ontario and Western New York in the shoulder season. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Niagara Falls City Council considers the 2016 Niagara lcewine Festival as an event of municipal significance and supports the provision of a Special Occasion Liquor Licence (SOP) for the event.
