CITY CLERK WAYNE THOMSON MAYOR The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Council Chambers January 13, 2003 No. 02 Moved by Alderman FISHER Seconded by Alderman CRAITOR WHEREAS the community was saddened by the accident which saw, local teenager Ray Anderson paralysed from the neck down; and WHEREAS some local residents, lead by Ashley Devries, wanted to hold a skate-a-thon to raise money for Ray; and WHEREAS some unbooked ice time was available on December 31; and WHEREAS the organizers requested that the fees associated be waived; and WHEREAS there was not a Council meeting scheduled over the holiday season, a phone poll of Council was conducted; and WHEREAS a majority of Council approved the waiving of fees. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council pass this resolution formalizing their approval of the waiver of fees. AND The Seal of the Corporation be hereto affLxed. Carried Unanimously. DEAN IORFIDA CITY CLERK ~N MAYOR The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Council Chambers No. 03 January 13, 2003 Moved by Alderman PIETRANGELO Seconded by Alderman PUTTICK WHEREAS the interim Casino, located at 5705 Falls Avenue, has been tremendously successful since its opening in December 1996; and WHEREAS the permanent Casino, slated to open in April 2004, is currently under construction at 6380 Fallsview Boulevard; and WHEREAS the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation has not yet made a decision on whether the interim Casino will remain in operation when the permanent facility opens; and WHEREAS Niagara Falls City Council has passed Resolution 1979-80 supporting the interim Casino remaining open subject to a business case analysis being conducted; and WHEREAS initial reports indicate that two business case analyses currently being completed support two casinos in Niagara Falls. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council supports the interim Casino remaining in operation when the permanent Casino opens; and FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that Council supports the interim Casino in its current location; and FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED Council authorizes the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to meet with the Minister of the Attorney General David Young.
