WHEREAS Niagara Regional Broadband Network(NRBN) has not historically been involved
in servicing residential areas; and
WHEREAS there was some concern as to Bell Canada's willingness to continue to invest in
residential infrastructure if forced to share their network; and
WHEREAS a letter was sent on December 21, 2015 by Mayor Diodati to oppose the
Canadian Radio and Television's (CRTC's) decision around Telecom Regulatory policy; and
WHEREAS upon further review, Niagara Falls City Council recognizes the potential
opportunity for layering of services over many possible sectors that could add future value to
the NRBN.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Mayor Diodati not only rescinds his December, 2015
letter, but that Mayor Diodati and City Council, together, offer their support to the CRTC's
Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2015-326.
