2003/07/14The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Council Chambers No. 19 July 14, 2003 Moved by Alderman PUTTICK Seconded by Alderman FEREN WHEREAS Niagara Falls Tourism has received sufficient funding to host additional fireworks during the summer; and WHEREAS the Niagara Falls Parks Commission and its sponsors requested permission from City Council to carry out fireworks every evening throughout July & August; and WHEREAS the fireworks displays will provide an additional attraction to visitors to Niagara Falls during July & August; and WHEREAS all appropriate approvals were sought; and WHEREAS there was not a Council meeting between the time of the request from Niagara Parks Commission and the proposed commencement of the fireworks; and WHEREAS a phone and e-mail poll of Council took place; and WHEREAS the majority of Council voted in favour of the fireworks. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council pass this resolution formalizing their approval of the Niagara Parks Commission's request for fireworks every evening in July and August. AND The Seal of the Corporation be hereto affixed. The motion Carried with Alderman Wing abstaining from the vote on a conflict of interest and with all others voting in favour. CITY CLERK WAYNE THOMSON MAYOR The City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Council Chambers No. 20 July 14, 2003 Moved by Alderman VOLPATTI Seconded by Alderman CAMPBELL WHEREAS Niagara Falls Tourism will be staging their 2nd Annual Niagara Wine & Food Classic from September 5-7, 2003 and WHEREAS this spectacular wine and culinary event will bring many tourists to Niagara and highlight local wineries and restaurants. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Niagara Food & Wine Classic is a significant event that is deserving of City Council support. AND The Seal of the Corporation be hereto affixed.
